Budapest Jazz House
Junior Prima Award-winning jazz saxophonist Kálmán Oláh Jr. and his quintet invite jazz enthusiasts to a unique and intimate apartment concert. In this cozy setting, the ensemble will perform a selection of their own compositions along with their favorite arrangements, allowing the audience to experience the distinctive world of contemporary Hungarian jazz up close. From a young age, Kálmán Oláh Jr. has been devoted to both classical and jazz music. He studied at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, where he earned his degree as a jazz saxophonist and music educator. His exceptional talent and musical dedication were recognized with the National Higher Education Scholarship of the Liszt Academy in 2021, followed by the prestigious Junior Prima Award. The quintet’s music blends the energy of modern jazz with the depth of classical musical thought. Their aim is to share their sound in as many diNerent settings as possible—this time in a close, personal atmosphere—oNering the audience a truly special experience. During the evening, the quintet will be joined by Zsolt Bende, acclaimed jazz guitarist and host of the night, who will further enrich the concert with his distinctive playing and improvisations.
