IMMA Express

Budapest JazzHouse

Imma Express' music is born out of the blend of guitar driven Zimbabwean 'sungura' music with the improvisational sensibilities of jazz musicians of different backgrounds to create compositions that push the envelope of both styles yet a performance which is energized and approachable by anyone.

While I was in Budapest recently, I had the opportunity to enjoy a concert at the Budapest Jazzhouse, featuring guitarist Zsolt Bende and his dynamic trio. The diverse crowd — from all over the world, I discovered — listened keenly and were as much a part of the experience as the musicians. I was invited to sit in and play guitar on a couple of tunes with Zsolt and the band, which was a real treat. Great players!”

Would warmly recommend this to everyone! You actually get invited into a home, and get to sit in their living room while listening to some really talented musicians. A really intimate and memorable experience! Thank you so much for doing this - it was really an amazing experience!”

This is a must if you like Jazz. The atmosphere is just what jazz should be small, intimate and relaxed. The hosts are very welcoming opening the doors of their own house to share their passion for music.”

Unreal performance in an intimate environment. The music was top-level. To top it off, there were very nice typical Hungarian snacks and drinks. It was a pity that it had to end :) We stop by for sure next time we're in Budapest. Great luck with everything!”
